HomeServicesColor Consultation

Pick the right color the first time.

Endless swatches, second-guessing, and a color that looks nothing like the chip on the wall — choosing paint is harder than it should be. We bring a trained eye, curated palettes, and real samples so you commit with confidence.

A paint color is never just the chip. The same beige can read warm and inviting in one room and flat and grey in the next, because it's shaped by your light, your floors, your trim and the rooms it opens onto. A color consultation takes the guesswork — and the expensive repaints — out of the decision by testing the color in your actual space before a single wall is coated.

When a consultation pays for itself

  • You've taped a dozen swatches to the wall and still can't decide
  • A color you loved in the store turned cold, muddy or "too much" once it was up
  • You want a palette that flows room to room instead of eight disconnected choices
  • New floors, cabinets or furniture need the walls to work around them
  • You're staging to sell and want colors with the broadest appeal
  • Open-plan spaces where one wrong tone throws off the whole floor

Why the wrong color costs more than paint

Repainting a room isn't just another gallon — it's the primer, the labor, the days of a space out of use, and living with a color you never quite liked in the meantime. Getting it right the first time is far cheaper than getting it twice. A consultation trades an afternoon of expert guidance for the confidence that what goes on the wall is what you actually wanted.

How the consultation works

1

Listen & walk the home

We start with how you want each room to feel, then walk the space to read your light, flooring, trim, fixed finishes and the sightlines between rooms.

2

Narrow the palette

Instead of a fan deck of thousands, we curate a tight, considered shortlist — wall colors, trim, ceilings and accents that belong together.

3

Sample on your walls

We put up large brush-out samples so you can live with the finalists across morning, afternoon and evening light before you commit.

4

Lock the plan & sheen

You leave with a written color schedule — exact colors, where each goes, and the right sheen for every surface — ready to paint.

What you get

  • A curated palette chosen for your light and finishes — not a random chip
  • Large samples brushed out on your walls, viewed in your own light
  • A whole-home color plan so every room flows into the next
  • A written color schedule with exact colors, placement and sheen

Why homeowners trust us with color

We recommend color from behind the brush, not from a showroom. We know which whites go grey next to warm oak, why a flat ceiling reads cleaner than a bright one, and where a scrubbable satin saves you in a hallway. We guide toward what will look and hold up beautifully in your home — never toward the priciest option. That straight advice is why we're 4.8-star rated across 320+ reviews.

Color questions

Good to know

Why can't I just pick a color from the store chip?+
A tiny chip under showroom lighting is one of the least reliable ways to judge a color. On a full wall, in your own daylight and next to your floors and trim, the same paint can look noticeably warmer, cooler or more saturated. Sampling it in your space is the only way to really know.
What's the difference between the sheens?+
Sheen is how much light the finish reflects. Flat and matte hide wall imperfections and suit ceilings and low-traffic rooms; eggshell and satin are more washable for living areas, halls and kids' rooms; semi-gloss and gloss are the durable, wipeable choice for trim, doors and cabinets. We match the sheen to each surface as part of your plan.
Can you plan colors for the whole home at once?+
Yes — a whole-home plan is where a consultation shines. We build a connected palette so colors flow room to room and share a common trim and ceiling, instead of eight rooms that fight each other. You end up with one cohesive scheme rather than a series of one-off decisions.
Do I need to buy sample pots myself?+
No. We bring the finalists and brush out large samples on your walls so you can live with them across the day before deciding — no dozen little cans left over, no guessing from a two-inch swatch.
What do I walk away with?+
A written color schedule: the exact color names and codes, which surface each goes on, and the recommended sheen for every room. Whether we paint it or you do, the plan is yours to keep and follow.
